Fai Jai Flow Fest
HARM REDUCTION
At Fai Jai Flow Festival, we want everyone to have the best time possible at our event, which means caring for the safety of all attendees! To ensure everyone can make the most of the event and celebrate safely, we’ve put together some tips and resources to help you care for your body and mind throughout the event.
PRESERVE THE BODY TO PLAY
Move Smart & Play Strong! Stay Safe, Stay Happy!
To make the most of Fai Jai Flow Festival & all the incredible movement opportunities it has to offer, its essential to take care of your body! We have prepared the following tips to help you care for your body throughout the festival.

-
Prepare the body: Our bodies are not machines and since we will be doing a lot of movement throughout the festival, it is essential to make sure our bodies are given adequate attention to warm up & cool down before & after any strenuous activities.

-
Know Your Limits: Listen to your body; take rests when you need to and stop when you feel any discomfort or pain. Overdoing it can lead to exhaustion or injuries, so pace yourself. To make the most of the experience & preserve your energy, alternate intense activities with rest time to avoid burn out & keep your energy flowing!

-
Rest & Recovery: Make sure you incorporate rest & recovery practices into your festival experience. Enjoy our on-site saunas, ice baths, and our yoga, mobility, and stretching classes to unwind during the experience!

-
First Aid Resources: If you do sustain an injury during the festival, visit our First Aid & Medic Station for care and guidance on how to proceed! Our team is here to help you with everything from minor scrapes to more serious concerns.

-
Hydration: Bring a reusable water bottle and refill it often, keeping in mind that , there are water stations on site. If you’re sweating a lot, consider adding a pinch of salt or drinking an electrolyte mix to stay balanced.

-
Sun Safety: The climate in Pai during February is sunny, hot, & dry during the day! Protect your skin by wearing sunscreen (SPF 30+ is ideal). A hat and sunglasses can help, too! Try to be in the shade as often as you can & take breaks from the sun especially during the hottest hours (11 AM–3 PM).

CONSENT IS KEY
Respecting each others boundaries and belongings, is what makes our community special!
Here are some tips on how to ensure you receive consent during the festival & beyond!
• Ask Before You Act: Whether you’re entering someone’s space, initiating physical contact, or borrowing props, always get clear consent!
• Partner Safety: If you’re working on a partnered movement or acro skill, or anything that requires physical touch with others, check in to ensure everyone is comfortable and safe before proceeding! Always remember to ask for spotters if you are learning a risky new skill that you are unsure of!
• Prop Respect: Props are extensions of their owners’ art & their tool of expression, so respecting everyones props as personal belonging is essential. Do not just assume you can use someone's prop, instead, a simple “May I try this?” goes a long way!
To learn more about consent:

-
Support Fellow Attendees: If you see someone who seems unwell, overwhelmed, or lost, check in with them. Offer support or guide them to festival staff who will be happy to help.

-
Know Where to Go for Help: Visit our First Aid and Medic Station if you or someone else needs assistance. Our trained medics are here to support & look after you.

-
Stay Aware: Be mindful of your surroundings and avoid collisions, especially in crowded dance or flow spaces and when using large props.

-
Stay Grounded: If you’re feeling overstimulated, take a moment in one of the quieter zones or practice grounding exercises like deep breathing.
