Harm Reduction
At Fai Jai Flow Festival, we wanted everyone to have the best time possible, which means caring for the safety of all attendees. Here are the tips and resources we put together to help attendees care for body and mind throughout the event.
Preserve the Body to Play
Move Smart & Play Strong. Stay Safe, Stay Happy.
- Prepare the body: warm up and cool down before and after strenuous activities.
- Know your limits: listen to your body, rest when needed, and stop at any discomfort or pain.
- Rest & recovery: use on-site saunas, ice baths, and yoga, mobility, and stretching classes to unwind.
- First aid resources: visit the First Aid & Medic Station for any injury, minor or serious.
- Hydration: bring a reusable water bottle and refill often; add a pinch of salt or electrolytes if sweating heavily.
- Sun safety: Pai in February is sunny, hot, and dry, so use SPF 30+, a hat, sunglasses, and shade during peak hours (11am to 3pm).
Consent Is Key
Respecting each other's boundaries and belongings is what makes the community special.
- Ask before you act: entering someone's space, initiating physical contact, or borrowing props.
- Partner safety: check in before any partnered movement or acro skill, and ask for spotters on risky new skills.
- Prop respect: props are extensions of an artist's expression; always ask, "May I try this?"
Look Out for Each Other
- Support fellow attendees who seem unwell, overwhelmed, or lost.
- Know where to go for help: the First Aid and Medic Station.
- Stay aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded dance or flow spaces.
- Stay grounded: use quieter zones or grounding exercises if overstimulated.
